Nigeria, Cameroon collaborate on oil spills containment

In order to effectively monitor and manage trans-boundary oil spills, Nigeria and its West Africa counterpart, Cameroon have commenced a two-day bilateral exercise geared towards testing communication between the two countries
Officials from various government parastatals, including the Nigerian Army, Customs, Navy and the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, and their counterparts from Cameroon as well as representatives of international oil companies gathered in Abuja to discuss on how to manage such menace under the aegis of Global Initiative for West, Central and Southern Africa.
Speaking during the exercise, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, NOSDRA, Mr. Peter Idabor said, the bilateral response exercise between the countries was necessary for efficient monitoring and prompt response to all issues of transboundary oil spills.
Idabor also noted that, the development would benefit both countries and would be expanded to include other African nations. READ MORE HERE
