The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State Thursday denied any plot to rig the state assembly poll rescheduled to hold tomorrow, even as it accused aides of President Goodluck Jonathan of sponsoring opposition against the party.
The PDP, which described as “baseless and misleading” the claims by the opposition parties in the state to rig the assembly elections, alleged that it was bothered that a serving aide of the president, Dr. Waripamowei Dudafa, is behind the opposition onslaught against the party.
The PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Osom Makbere, said though the party considered the claims by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) that it planned to rig the election in Kolokuma/Opokuma as misleading, it alleged that preliminary investigation have shown that the aide to President Jonathan, Dudafa, who is a native of the area, is planning to mobilise the army and other security agencies to rig the votes in favour of APGA.
But reacting to the allegation of anti-party activities, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Domestic Affairs, Dudafah, dismissed the claim by the PDP as “bias and influenced by some destabilising agents in the state.”
